Thunder Crush the Lakers in Game 1

May 14, 2012 - The last time the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers met, Metta World Peace (Ron Artest) knocked James Harden out of the game with a vicious elbow to the head. The Thunder had their revenge and knocked the Lakers out of the game, and it only took three quarters to do it. Russell Westbrook had 27 points and nine assists, Kevin Durant added 25 points and the Thunder beat the Lakers 119-90 on Monday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. The Thunder had a 15 point lead at halftime. Then they opened the third quarter with a 15-2 run and they did not look back from there. At the end of the third quarter the Thunder were winning by 30 points. Oklahoma City were able to rest their starters for the entire fourth quarter. The only bad news for the Thunder was that Kendrick Perkins aggravated his right hip muscle that he injured in the final game of the first round against the Mavericks. Perkins was going up for a dunk early in the third quarter when the injury happened. He sat out for the rest of the game. Scott Brooks said he could've played if needed and will be a game-time decision for Wednesday night's game.

Harden Wins 6th Man of the Year Award

May 14, 2012 -The Oklahoma City Thunder's James Harden was presented with his 6th Man of the Year Award Monday night prior to Game 1 against the Lakers. Harden was named the NBA 6th Man of the Year on May 10th. The award is given to the the best player in the league that has a reserve role. Harden led all NBA reserves in scoring with 16.8 points per game. He came off the bench 60 of 62 games he played in. Harden received 115 of a possible 119 first place votes from a panel of 119 sportswriters and broadcasters. He averaged career bests in points (16.8), rebounds (4.1), and assists (3.7). He also shot career bests from the field (49.1%), three point range (39.0%), and from the free throw line (84.6%).

Durant hits Game-Winner in Game 1 vs Dallas

April 30, 2012- Down by 1 point with 9.0 seconds left, you know who the Thunder were going to get the ball to. The only question was could Durant come up with a game-winning shot like he did against the Mavericks on opening day? Well "Kid Clutch" lived up to his nickname. Taking advantage of a screen from Kendrick Perkins, Durant drove hard to his right, ignored a clean 3-point look and instead dribbled to his left and down to the free-throw line. With three-plus seconds remaining, Durant elevated and released a high-arcing, one-handed shot over the Mavs’ Shawn Marion that would bounce off the rim and backboard before sliding through the net with 1.5 seconds remaining, putting the Thunder up, 99-98, and sending the Thunder bench and 18,203 fans dressed in Thunder blue into an all-out frenzy.

Durant leads White Team to victory in Team USA intrasquad exhibition game

July 25, 2009 - Kevin Durant scored 20 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists on his way to leading the White Team to a 100-81 victory in a Team USA intrasquad exhibition game Saturday. The 20-year-old went 5 of 12 from the field, 9 of 9 from the free throw line, and 1 of 4 from 3-point range. Coach Krzyzewski continued to praise Durant saying, "He is an explosive player and he plays hard." Rudy Gay was the leading scorer for the losing Blue Team with 27 points.

Durant singled out for praise by Coach K at Team USA Minicamp

July 24, 2009 - Team USA Coach Mike Krzyzewski was quick to name who he thought was the best player at the 2009 Team USA minicamp. Coach K said Kevin Durant was at the head of his list after just the first day of practice. "He's that versatility guy," Krzyzewski said. "And the other thing is he's a shooter, and with the way we were playing defense for most of the Olympics, with his length, he could be a heck of a defender." Coach Krzyzewski's remarks mean Durant is practically a shoe in for the 2010 World Championship Team and the 2012 Olympic Team. Durant was strongly considered for the 12th roster spot on the Redeem Team that won gold medals at the Olympics last year. Tayshaun Prince ended up being chosen for the spot, but don't expect anything like that to happen when 2012 comes around.

Durant, Green, and Westbrook participate in Team USA Minicamp

July 22, 2009- Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, and Russell Westbrook have been invited to participate in a Team USA Minicamp in Las Vegas this week. The minicamp will last for three-days and will consist of 25 "rising NBA stars." The purpose of the camp is to help determine which players will be part of the 2012 USA Olympic Team. Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski will return as head coach of the 2012 Olympic Team. "Durant almost was on our 2006 World Championship team," Krzyzewski said. Durant continues to remain humble saying, "It means a lot (to be invited), but I know I have a long ways to go. If I continue to work hard, you never know what might happen.”

Serge Ibaka was selected 24th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft. He has spent the last year playing professionally in the Spanish ACB League. He averaged 7.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 block in 15.5 minutes per game while playing in Spain.

Pictures of the Nike KD II, Durant's next signature shoe, surface

July 5, 2009 - Pictures of Kevin Durant's next signature shoe, the Nike KD II, have recently surfaced on the Internet (via niketalk and theshoegame). After the success of the KD1, Nike wasted no time in designing and producing a second shoe in the series. Nike decided to change things up a bit and added a strap to the KD II. The shoes are expected to be part of Nike's Spring 2010 line.

Thunder Introduce their 2009 Draft Picks

June 27, 2009 - The Thunder introduced their three newest additions Saturday, June 27th at a press conference. The Thunder chose James Harden 3rd overall, acquired B.J. Mullens (24th overall pick) from Dallas, and Robert Vaden (54th overall pick) from Charlotte in Thursday's draft. Jersey numbers were also announced at the press conference: Harden will wear number 13, Mullens will wear number 23, and Vaden will wear number 30.

Thunder select James Harden #3 overall in 2009 NBA Draft

June 25, 2009 - The Thunder selected James Harden a sophomore from Arizona State, as the third overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. There was a lot of talk before the draft that Thunder GM Sam Presti may choose Ricky Rubio or even Stephen Curry with the third pick. However, Presti made the right pick Thursday night choosing James Harden. Harden, a 6'5" 222 pound shooting guard, fits perfectly into the Thunder's young talented lineup. Westbrook and Harden will make a great backcourt tandem. Also, Harden playing the 2 allows Durant and Green to play their natural forward positions.
